Still sequences, ‘Theodore of the Absurd’
Had another great shoot today for Theodore of the Absurd (dir. BT Glanden). We shot a scene that takes place in an “underground artist colony” – the really cool thing about this project (shooting-wise at least – the story/dialogue is awesomely ridiculous) is that most of the film is made up of still photos. So the majority of shooting has been done in stills, with a few parts of the movie with fully moving image (including a music video shot by Shaun Clarke, which I got to do some wacky dolly gripping on).
These images are each a sequence of stills that I combined to show the intendend movement. In the film, they’ll be cut sequentially, rather than put together side by side.

Sunrise on the first day of summer
On June 21, 2011 my friend Harry and I decided to go out to Manomet Point in Plymouth to catch the sun rising over Cape Cod Bay. Shot with a Canon 60D. Note: There is no sound in this video.

Clean Pop (short film)
Clean Pop from Jon Dorn on Vimeo.
Wheatley is a moderately successful indie rock band, and to pick up a little extra cash between tours, they hired themselves out to write and record a commercial jingle for CLEAN POP® Brand Laundry Detergent.
Starring Nick Amendolare, Seth McFadyen, Phil Hulse as Wheatley
Written & directed by Jon Dorn
Director of photography: Danielle Zuckerman
Set sound production by Scott McEwen
Grip/costumes/PA: Mellie Dorn
Video: Pilgrim Sands video, rough cut/audio
Rough cut: Pilgrim Sands “Always At Home” promo – (placeholder music, rough VO) from Jon Dorn on Vimeo.
This is a rough cut of a Pilgrim Sands Motel promo video, ‘Leave It To Beaver’ style. I actually used the LITB music for this, as a placeholder since that’s the type of music I’m going for. The voice over is a rough recording too.
Feedback welcome!

“Tourist” selected for Binghamton Student Experimental Film Fest!
I just got the word today that “Tourist” (starring Harry Quinn and Scott McEwen), which I made December 2009, was selected for the Binghamton Student Experimental Film Festival. I’ve never had anything in a film festival before. First time – so needless to say, I’m very excited about it.
Just thought I’d share. Here’s the movie. Another thanks to the Pilgrim Sands for letting us shoot there.

Nuclear Energy – 3 monitors
I just put the 3 “Nuclear Energy” monitors into one file so you can see how they work together.
